Round Knife Identifying

Recommended Posts

I know this type of forum question has been done a lot, but I am trying to get an idea as to what I recently picked up. I am new to leather work and self teaching so was looking to find a round knife for that next step. Picked up this one from a Canadian eBay dealer, it shows some age but appears to be in Good shape. There is no markings similar in style to the Osmand, but from reading other forum threads here and viewing the pictures, I am thinking it is a Clydesdale/Shapleigh given the slight side extensions at the handle connections and metal nail used in handle.

Would not mind hearing from other Canadians as to where are good Cdn conn cations for vintage leather working tools.

Thanks

Just re-read this post, before you think I cannot write a coherent sentence, I know it is Osmond, and last line should be good Cdn connections for vintage leather tools. Tiny keyboard and big fingers.

Peter,

C.S. Osborne. also H.F. Osborne. Looks like the handle may have been refinished.

Art, sorry my 2nd post might have lead to confusion, as I was indicating I had spelt Osmond wrong. Do you think this knife might be an Osmond, does not have any markings, and from what it can see in other photos, older Osmonds see to have pretty deep stamps?

Thanks for your reply

Peter

Hi Peter,

While Donnie and Marie go under the knife a lot, I have never run across an Osmond Head (or any other kind of) Knife. This doesn't mean there are none out there. However, as I said, C.S. Osborne is a common maker to this day.

Art,

My apologizes, need to proofread my messages obviously. Was just trying to get an idea of the knife maker on this one. I will give it up as a lesson learned.

Thanks again for your reply.

Peter
