kheart Report post Posted January 30, 2016 Just curious. I'm new to this and am cutting reins from a huge 16/18 harness side. I wound up cutting them with a round knife. How thick of leather can a wooden strap cutter adjust to?
dirtclod Report post Posted January 30, 2016 (edited) I've cut 13 / 15 oz skirting. That's about the limit. Edited January 30, 2016 by dirtclod
Thor Report post Posted January 30, 2016 Depending on which wooden strap cutter you are referring to it may depend on the pass through.

It also would depend on the blade sharpness, quality and whether it is mounted right. If a cheap blade is a little crooked in thinner softer leathers, it may work but throw in some stiff leather at the max thickness of the cutter, and if that blade isn't straight and parallel to the frame, it may wander, flex and break. kheart Report post Posted January 31, 2016 Well, after some experimentation I've decided that 16 oz is about the thickest I can get to even fit in it. This is the one that I have. I definitely noticed some wander with the thicker leather. Good to know, thank you!
