HondoMan Report post Posted January 30, 2016 Greetings all from Bavaria! amongst the few items I'm presently making and repairing, I've been asked to make a belt sheath or case for iron cutlery. Would seem fairly straight forward, but it's not...at least for me. I can't seem to get my head around a proper idea. I considered a knife sheath to start then lay the for atop the knife and make a tubular off-set from the fork for the skewer. Place the knife and fork side by side with the skewer in between? I think having the skewer next to the knife is out due to the welt for the knife edge. While the cutlery is rather long (24cm), they aren't wide. And the wearer of this is a rather tiny woman (164cm). This is also for middle-ages festivals, so I'm keeing that in mind too. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions? I would greatly appreciate it. i wünsch dir was! ~ Hondo
Thor Report post Posted January 30, 2016 Two things I'd try if it would work. Have it in a slanted sheath. Knife towards the front, then the fork and the skewer??? in a smaller pouch in front of the knife. The welt, if it really is an issue is only needed on the side of the cutting edge. The following is just suggesting to modify the fork so it lays flat like the knife...
HondoMan Report post Posted January 30, 2016 A slanted sheath... eine schräge Scheide? Not a bad idea, but I believe not so authentisch Mittelalter. The Schweifung on the fork is odd. I wondered at the reason for that while the knife is on one direction opposite the fork. Perhaps that could be the reason I am still feeling confused. If I have a Schmied work the curve on the fork, it might end working better. I suppose I need to continue drawing sketches until something clicks. Ich danke dir! Pfait di!
