What size needle would you run for 138 thread? I'm thinking 23 as I run a 22 for 92 thread... could it be 24?

With Coats poly I run a 19 needle. You will get the occasional thread break, but the look with the smaller holes is nicer and you can also increase the spi.

Can you use the 19 needle/138 thread in your Artisan cylinder arm machine without changing anything other than maybe bobbin tension?

Hi Ed,

I use the 19 in the 618, works without much adjustment using 138/138 Linhanyl Nylon or Coats poly, just a little tension tweak. I never set the big machines up to do anything under 207, I suppose a #19 might be a little far from the hook. You'll just have to try it.
