acook59 Report post Posted February 17, 2016 Hey guys so I've heard there's a device for smoothing out that edge of leather without having to sand it. What is it called and is it any good, or better than sanding? Also I've heard of a sort of roller stamp for doing basket weave on leather. Anyone got any experience of these and what are they called Many thanks, Andrew
Halitech Report post Posted February 17, 2016 the first I think you are talking about an electric edge creaser. It may look like a soldering iron but it's not Haven't seen any for doing basket weave but you are referring to an embossing roll
gary Report post Posted February 17, 2016 (edited) Do a search on here and elsewhere for 'fileteuse' and you should get information you need. Also do searches on edge finishing, burnishing and similar for a good overview and a lot of detail on buying or making one as well as all the consumables that go with them. The search box is in the top right corner. When you open one of the posts which it shows you will find a list of related posts at the bottom of the page and so on, so you should find what you're looking for. Nuttish Report post Posted February 19, 2016 Correction: the American units are "temperature controlled" soldering irons with custom machined brass tips.
