an1913t Report post Posted February 21, 2016 For my first topic, I know this isn't about tooled leather, but hopefully someone here can help me. So I have 2 sofas I'm going to reupholster. I want a good-quality thick leather, something along the lines of 4oz. I've been to the large Tandy store in South Ft. Worth, looked at lots of different suppliers online and contacted most of them, but am having a difficult time coming up with something that won't totally blow my budget (~$275/hide - max - 10 hides for the project). Tandy has a bunch of oiled sides that I really like, but the sales person there told me no to use the leather for upholstery because the oil finish will rub off onto clothing. Has anyone ever used oiled leather for upholstery? Did you experience this problem? Thanks all in advance.
