Natural Bridle

Recommended Posts

I've read many previous threads so please excuse if this has been asked and answered. Where can I find a natural colored bridle? Also I'm looking to do a shoulder/messenger bag, will 5 ounce suffice? I want a firm temper and fairly thick but not so that I can't put a couple layers together in the gussets and interior. Also is there another hardware place other than OTB? I'm not finding what I need there and Tandy is absolutely ridiculous. Thank you in advance.

Thoroughbred leather in Louisville,ky has a bridle they call Qtan and its close to a natural color. The stuff smells amazing and looks nice once transformed. Last time I picked some up I believe they had 3/4 5/6 7/8 and 9/10 ounce hides. I usually drive to Louisville to pick up my leather but they have two guys that run the show, and they are both great to work with. I usually work with Mark Coxon markcoxon01@gmail.com or (502) 802-4008, just tell him christian sent you his way.

I usually get my hardware from

Weaver leather

The buckle guy

+ to the Buckleguy - they produce a very cool and quality hardware. You just feel and touch the quality.

I tried buckleguy out and am extremely happy. Now for the leather part. I haven't found a natural bridle. Is this even possible due to the way they process the leather?

I thought English Bridle is just veg tan leather that is drum dyed and waxed at the tannery. If you want natural colored bridle, what you're asking for really is veg tan leather that has gone through the hot stuffing/waxing without dyes. All you have to do is order an undyed vegtan (tooling/skirting leather) at your desired weight and then apply wax/conditioner/finish on your own.

If I'm wrong, please allude me to this as I'd greatly appreciate it.
