Members Peterk Posted December 18, 2008 Members Report Posted December 18, 2008 Hi guys, Have a problem with sewing faux allegator... I bought some allegator pattern embossed cow hide (2oz) to add as cheap accents to my holsters. Anyway, ran into a bit of difficulty since I could not use a groover on that skin to set a uniform distance from the edge for hand-sewing purposes. Anyway, I would think this would be true with real exotics as well, so how do you guys hand-sew exotics/faux exotics? Thanks. Peter Quote

I'm going to take it up after getting a machine. Quote
MADMAX22 Posted December 18, 2008 Report Posted December 18, 2008 Ive only used exotics on inlays my self. That is a little different because you are putting the groove in the over lay of leather. As far as stitching groove you dont really need one ecspecially if its not in a wear area. Say ontop of the sheath thats not agains the body. What you could try is using your compass if you have one and set that to the proper depth then basically very lightly run a line along the edge to give you your distance mark. Then use your pricker or whatever you want to try and get your spacing. If you cant use your pricker then take a tape measure and just mark off every 1/8 or whatever you want the spacing to be, then go along and punch your holes and your all set. Atleast this is what I would try first but Im not the most experienced person around so I could be starting at the beginning, Quote
