Members tonyc1 Posted December 28, 2008 Members Report Posted December 28, 2008 I haven't kept my messed up knots, I reuse all my string and on the occasions when I have cut one I've given them to my cockatoo to play with. I did keep the turk's head from this knot though. What sort of cockatoo do you have ? Tony. Quote
Members entiendo Posted December 29, 2008 Author Members Report Posted December 29, 2008 I have an adopted Moluccan Cockatoo. Quote
Members tonyc1 Posted December 29, 2008 Members Report Posted December 29, 2008 I have an adopted Moluccan Cockatoo. Their very similar to our Sulphur Crested white cockatoos but prettier, that we have down here in plentiful numbers. We also have Black Cockatoos, but not so many of them. The white ones are very destructive and noisy although some I know, do talk well. I know I wouldn't want one as a pet! Tony Quote
Members entiendo Posted December 29, 2008 Author Members Report Posted December 29, 2008 I don't think they should be pets at all. They are very difficult to care for and unpredictable, albeit, it is very rewarding. However, 99% of the population cannot properly care for any large bird, but that's just my opinion. People say my cockatoo is spoiled, but I think I just do for him what needs to be done. Anywho, enough on that, back to braiding... Quote
Members rawhide1 Posted December 29, 2008 Members Report Posted December 29, 2008 entiendo can you take a picture of the blue thong where it makes it turn before coming back down. I'm not sure but something just doesn't seem right with that thong as it's coming down. It would be nice to see your turn. Mike Quote

Members rawhide1 Posted December 30, 2008 Members Report Posted December 30, 2008 entiendo It looks like when you made tour turn with the blue thong you went over two. I think when you make your turn you need to go over one. And then when you make your next turn you'll go over two splitting parallels. I have found that when I split parallels I always go over two then under two. In the other pictures it looks like you went under two first. Hope this helps Mike Quote
Members entiendo Posted December 30, 2008 Author Members Report Posted December 30, 2008 Yes, I did go over 2, I was under the impression that you do go over 2 on a gaucho. If I didn't go over 2, I would no longer be following the standing string. With a herringbone I'm always splitting parallels on the turns, with the exception of the first 2, but on the gaucho the only parallel to split on a turn is the last turn. Do these rules change on a larger button with more turns? Quote
