Windrider30 Report post Posted August 9, 2016 Got bored so decided to mess around with a small project, this came out rather nicely have one other style with two different variations that I will be making just to see how well it works. This is made from Tandy's Montana side (veg tan 4 to 5 oz leather with a nice feel and dye job) and sheep skin. Hand stitched took maybe an hour and half to do (most of that was letting the dye on the sheep skin dry enough to where I could handle it). Thinking of seeing if these will sell for around 15 bucks
thewindycity42 Report post Posted August 23, 2016 Good idea/design, just a couple of execution suggestions. I recommend that you work on your spacing for the little strap part, as well as give it a little more space on top. Also, edges! The real discriminator for a leatherworker is how clean and burnished their edges are. There are those who have spent decades perfecting their techniques, and it shows. if you bevel and burnish the edges, and work on your stitching a bit, it will be very nice. Just my 2c. Windrider30 Report post Posted August 23, 2016 Yep I had forgotten to burnish the damned edges when I took the shot lol, so had to go back and burnish it though I did not bevel the edges as I liked the square edged look on it. And you are right the spacing on the top was WAY the hell off on this one, but for a prototype it turned out not to bad.
