Tandy Re-fillable Dye Pens

Recommended Posts

Just got a couple Tandy Re-fillable Dye pens and was wondering how you fill them?  There are NO instructions.  Do you just pour the dye in to the top of the pen?  Looks like this will be a messy job!  Any help would be great!

I don't know about the ones from Tandy but the ones I've got have a plug on the end opposite of the tip that pulls out and you put the dye in that way. A syringe makes the job easier and less of a mess.

If you try to pour dye in, you're probably going to have a mess.

Pull the cap off the top and slide the sponge tube out.  Drop one end into a small bottle of dye for a few minutes and let it saturate.  Then put it back into the pen and cap it back up.  Dip the tip into the bottle to pre-wet it and you're good to go.

When it runs out, just resoak the sponge tube.

I really like mine.

Thanks, TomG.  That sounds pretty simple and I'll give it a try.

Thanks also, ChriJ, Don't have any syringes. But, that way would probably work well too.

Before you use a syringe, make sure the end cap makes it waterproof.  If you overfill the chamber, it may leak out.  Not sure though.

Tandy has a video posted that shows how to fill the pen.  Easy to understand and straight forward.
