Stamping 3-D letters in a halfmoon or circle

Hey there, hope everyone is doing well.  Does anyone have usaeful tips on stamping !/4" and 1/2" letters in a halfmoon or circle.  I have tried a few different things.  I tried to lightly scribe, or even pencil a halfmoon line.  I t was still noticeable at end results.

Cut the arc you want out of a thick card stock then use green painters tape to hold it in place and use that as your guide
