SonderingSusan Report post Posted February 1, 2017 Hey Everyone ! Would anyone have any idea or experience with the tool in the picture below? It is for taking the "birr" off my skiving machine bell. As you can see it is quite stained from use and it doesn't work very well any more. Is it posable to clean or sand it ? Is it still useful ? Any / all advice would be very welcome. Sonydaze Report post Posted February 1, 2017 The stone is to take the wire edge off the drum after sharpening it, they usually are on a wood handle. You can try scrubbing it with Comet (pot cleaner) or WD40. I think though it is likely a better idea to get a new one with a handle and keep your fingers further from the sharp edge.
