Members roraliyah Posted February 2, 2017 Members Report Posted February 2, 2017 I bought some bridle leather I really want to use for some award breastcollars that require painted lettering. Is there a way I can do this?? I've been told you can't carve on bridle leather and I've also heard it's not ideal but it can be done. Thanks!! Quote
Members superpacker Posted March 7, 2018 Members Report Posted March 7, 2018 I had a similar question, but not about carving, just about painting. I've got some very waxy english bridle, and I wanted to paint some basic stripes on it, is that possible? Quote

I’ve never tried paint on bridle leather, but I know that the Giardini paint I use sticks tenaciously to just about anything it touches, so it is likely it will work on bridle leather. I would wipe the area to be painted with some alcohol first to minimize any oil or wax on the surface, then try to rough the surface a little before painting. Try it on some scrap and give it some time to see if any oil comes back to the surface to cause any problems. Gary Quote Cowboy 4500, Consew 206RB-4
