Members Andruuus Posted February 8, 2017 Members Report Posted February 8, 2017 Hello everyone, I've been admiring leatherwork for ages, but I never thought I could actually make something like those masterpieces. But I finally started! I tried to do some easy projects first, you can see them in the photo. It's far from perfect, I have an issue with cutting straight/round lines, also I don't know if I dyed the leather properly (I dyed the ipad case..the dark brown leather I bought already dyed like that). Also it seems to me that the leather was easilly scratched on and I wonder if I can avoid that somehow. There's still a long way to go, but I'll try to do my best. All your work here is really inspiring to me and I hope I'll level with you someday! Except of leatherworking I really enjoy drawing and lot of other stuff.. With greeting from the Czech Republic, Andrea Quote
Members YinTx Posted April 6, 2017 Members Report Posted April 6, 2017 Welcome! Sometimes it's just the leather that makes doing the dye work difficult. Hopefully you've done a few more since this one, using other leathers. Also, check out the forums for info on how to dye leather, how to improve your stitching, etc. and you will find with each piece you do it gets better and better! Look forward to seeing more of you works... YinTx Quote YinTx https://www.instagram.com/lanasia_2017/ https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLK6HvLWuZTzjt3MbR0Yhcj_WIQIvchezo
bikermutt07 Posted April 7, 2017 Report Posted April 7, 2017 You are off to a great start. Quote I'm not paying 80 bucks for a belt!!! It's a strip of leather. How hard could it be? 4 years and 3 grand later.... I have a belt I can finally live with. Stitching is like gravy, it's only great if you make it every day. From Texas but in Bossier City, Louisiana.
