TucanSam Report post Posted March 8, 2017 Hey folks just wondering what yalls opinion is for glass/wood slicking the leather before starting, specifically figure carving using modeling spoons and such. Thanks!
bgl500 Report post Posted March 20, 2017 I've experimented with it but don't have a great deal of experience using the method. I'll usually make a mixture of glycerin soap and water, rub and lather it on the leather, and then slick with a piece of glass. I do find it makes my swivel knife glide quite smoothly. Probably an error with something I'm doing but do find the leather darkens significantly after slicking.
MADMAX22 Report post Posted March 25, 2017 I like to slick before tooling but thats just me, many opinions on the subject. Try both and see what you like. Slicking IMHO provides a nice smooth finish to start with before the mangling begins.
