Members safeasfcuk Posted April 8, 2017 Members Report Posted April 8, 2017 I have recently deiscovered that there is a club who provide access to a laser cuter and CNC machine right down the street from me. I'm in the need of making my own makers mark stamp and was wondering do you think an acrylic stamp laser cut would handle the pressure of being pressed into leather? Quote
Members veedub3 Posted April 8, 2017 Members Report Posted April 8, 2017 (edited) Makerspaces are a great resource. As for the stamp, I would use delrin or hdpe, both are cheap and will hold up to many, many impressions. Not sure about acrylic. Members SolarLeatherMachines Posted April 9, 2017 Members Report Posted April 9, 2017 Acrylic does not live long if the edges are fine. It just crumbles too much. Delrin will work much better but you'll still get only a couple hundred pressing. Magnesium is next with about 5000 pressings, followed by copper (10,000) and brass (20,000+). Quote Alexander
