Practice makes perfect I know but wonder if there are secrets to putting in domed rivets without smashing the dome. I've filled scraps with rivets and at about 80% success by putting a piece of leather over the dome. I have a domed rivet setter also. I'm so anxious about starting a project and messing up this part of the job and marring the leather.  I appreciate any help.

go onto ebay; you can get bars which have a concave dome on the end for for setting domed rivets. Make sure its the right size for the rivet you want to use; bigger is ok but not smaller
