Members Frankallen Posted April 24, 2017 Members Report Posted April 24, 2017 I am getting back into Leather work and I need some advice, what size pricking Irons to buy and what type and size thread to buy? I will be making only knife sheaths. Any help will be greatly appreciated. : ) Thanks, Frank from Alabama Quote
bikermutt07 Posted April 24, 2017 Report Posted April 24, 2017 For large fixed blade sheaths I would use 5mm irons or chisels and 1mm thread. I'm liking the tiger thread. Anything smaller I would use 4mm and .08 thread. But, I'm no expert. Quote I'm not paying 80 bucks for a belt!!! It's a strip of leather. How hard could it be? 4 years and 3 grand later.... I have a belt I can finally live with. Stitching is like gravy, it's only great if you make it every day. From Texas but in Bossier City, Louisiana.

I have some 4mm that are great @ less than 20 bucks a set. You can always upgrade later. Quote I'm not paying 80 bucks for a belt!!! It's a strip of leather.
