I am getting back into Leather work and I need some advice, what size pricking Irons to buy and what type and size thread to buy? I will be making only knife sheaths. Any help will be greatly appreciated. : )

Thanks,

Frank from Alabama

For large fixed blade sheaths I would use 5mm irons or chisels and 1mm thread. I'm liking the tiger thread.

Anything smaller I would use 4mm and .08 thread.

But, I'm no expert.

I'm not paying 80 bucks for a belt!!! It's a strip of leather. How hard could it be? 4 years and 3 grand later.... I have a belt I can finally live with.

Stitching is like gravy, it's only great if you make it every day.

From Texas but in Bossier City, Louisiana.

No problems. You can get cheap chisels on Amazon. I have some 4mm that are great @ less than 20 bucks a set.

You can always upgrade later.
