Members steelhawk Posted June 13, 2017 Members Report Posted June 13, 2017 A good customer ( 5 holsters already for him) wants a holster for this gun. It is 7.25 long with a 3.5 inch barrel and a 1.45 width. I didn't see a blue gun for it, unless I missed it. Has anyone here made a holster for this gun? If so, what did you use to mold it? Quote
Members Colt Hammerless Posted June 13, 2017 Members Report Posted June 13, 2017 I've made holsters for the DW ECO. It's simply a 3.5 inch (aka Officer's length) 1911. Doesn't require a special dummy gun. I use my Colt Commander blue gun for molding holsters for it. The dust cover is the same length. The muzzle sticks out .75 inch during molding, but that's all. Of course if you're doing a closed toe holster, it would be an issue. If you're doing closed toe holsters for the 3.5 inch length 1911, you could buy a Commander dummy and cut off the extra length to make a 3.5 inch specific dummy. Paul Quote
Members BHPshooter Posted June 15, 2017 Members Report Posted June 15, 2017 (edited) I found a 3.5" 1911 mold at www.cooksgunmolds.com . Before I got a 3.5" mold, I used a Commander mold, and just formed the muzzle of the holster as the last step as the mold was being removed from the holster (I still do 4" 1911 holsters this way, because I still haven't found a 4" mold).
