Shern Report post Posted July 26, 2017 (edited) Hey everyone! I'm not sure if this forum answers leather care questions, but here goes. I have this slight dark patch or discolouration on my leather weightlifting belt. I've tried cleaning it with saddle soap, as well as leaving cornstarch on the patch overnight, it didn't seem to help. Any ideas to what it is or what I can do? Thanks! CTaylorJr Report post Posted July 26, 2017 Could be a natural dark spot in the leather, or some oil may have gotten on that spot ant one point in time. I've never been successful at getting a spot like that back to a "natural" look. Hopefully someone else will come in with some better info.
Shern Report post Posted July 26, 2017 Thanks! Yea I've had some trouble with this stain, have gone as far as rubbing it with alcohol and then rubbing cornstarch over it trying to get the grease (I think?) out, nothing. Suppose if I can't fix it, I'll just have to accept that its one of the wears and tears of using a belt well.
CTaylorJr Report post Posted July 27, 2017 Well, most weight lifters I've met tend to sweat a bit. With prolonged use, it's going to get more staining. Call it character marks...
Bonecross Report post Posted July 27, 2017 You could always re-dye the belt black if it bothers you
