Sheath is 9-10 oz burgandy Latigo with welt. Cut lace rubbed neatsfoot oil finish. Had some problems cutting the lace and its a little square and rolled when lacing. ARRRRGGGGGGG...... Thanks for looking and comments always welcomed

Cool, you have a nice design ! I think if you just pull the lace out a few holes you could get enough slack to twist  or untwist those few that are a problem. Then all you have to do is tighten and relace  a couple holes. No need to rebuild.:dunno: Maybe?

Oh and nice  knife, did you forge it your self?

I like raw (imperfect) additions to some items. Your sheath for example, I would leave alone. Part of the allure for me anyways is having something I made and I like the home made looking items. I really don't want my stuff to look like I went to Dooney and Burke or whatever and just bought them. I think you did well.

BTW... if that is a knife you forged, you are certainly better with fire and hammer than I am! Good job all around!

Dave,

the safety strap would work better if it were up against the guard. Two reasons:

-- it prevents the knife from  rising out of its sheath

-- you can snap the strap off in one motion when you grip the knife

Two very good points I did not consider. Thanks !

Did not forge this one, it is a blank. I got a deal on three of them and thought it would be a good way to sell some leather.
