Gifted a box of Leather Tools

Recommended Posts

A friend on an RC drone forum, and I were talking one day, and he said that he learned that I do leather work.

I said yes I do, but why do you ask? He proceeded to tell me about an old friend, a lady who had sold her home and moved into a seniors retirement village, hundreds of miles away., before she left, she had given this fellow a small box of leather tools.

He asked me if I would like them, since they had just sat in his shed for the past 15 years. ;-)

I said. sure, love to have them, but are they all dusty & rusty? But he said no, and offered to send me these pics. Tools and old books.

I already have How to Color Leather and the Inverted Carving books, by Al Stohlman.

He's mailing them tools and all the bits and pieces, up here to me, tomorrow. Kind of excited about it, being free.

Some of the stamps and figure carvers in the plastic rack, I already have,, but I'm sure there will be a few, I don't own yet.

Too bad i had just bought one of them Super Skivers, only a couple of weeks ago. Nice to have a spare I suppose.

Are there actually any forum mods here, that read these posts and respond?

I have sent messages to a couple of mods and Admin. Nothing. No response at all.

No reply and my thread still has multiple images.

i looked at the Staff list and noticed some of them haven't even visited the forum for a couple of years.

So is that how this forum operates? That's pretty poor management in my personal opinion.  WTF?

I don't care, if that's how we operate here. Apparently there is no need. Just police ourselves. Ha

Chas,

Sorry I missed your  message earlier and I don't always read every post. As a topic moderator we we have some editing capabilities. We can move, pin to the top, feature, hide, lock, or delete posts. Unfortunately the one thing I cannot find a way to do is selectively edit the content within an individual post. I don't know if that is a permission level thing with moderators or by design to keep the control of content with the original poster. I will see what I can find for you.

As a moderator, I don't have the time to read every post that comes in.  I do have a life beyond LW.net.  Sometimes there may be 2 or 3 or more days between my appearance here, and I don't go back more than about a day to see if there is anything that needs fixed or commented.  Moderators are volunteers, not paid full-time staff.  You can "report" a post that needs attention by clicking on "report post" in the upper right of the post.  Then it is flagged to all moderators and they will see it when they next login.

Hope you have a better day today!

Thanks Bruce, I see one of you have helped me out, and that's all I wanted.

Hope my comments weren't too rude or derogatory.

I am very new here, and don't know anyone. My post got a hundred views, but not one comment, before today.

My pics weren't showing, when I posted them, until later when they were in multiple.

& the photo editing in this forum is nearly non Existent.

Anyway, my tools are on their way from Australia, and even though, I already have many of them.

I can't turn down such a gift, graciously. They should be here in about another week.

Big thanks for understanding. Mucho gracias señor....

Tom,

It's all good. A couple of days away is alright. But there are mods listed here, that haven't been on the forum for more than two years. Perhaps now is high time, to bring in some new blood? Someone who could attend the forum daily., you be the judge. ;-)

Ah, anyway, thank you for having fixed my post above, and that's all I wished for.

But you failed to have deleted the pics that were between my writing. Ok, never mind.

Well, unless you can put my broken sentence back together and place my two pics at the bottom of the post.

Thanks for being polite about my outburst.  But it was beginning to frustrate me.

Have a great day your self, thanks again too.

Checking the mail tracking today, brought me a smile.

My gift box of leather tools have already left Australia via Perth, and are in the air.

So now it will only be a matter of time, how long Canadian Customs officers take, to get at searching my parcel.

This has all been very exciting, and I am looking forward to them being delivered sometime later in the week.

I feel like an excited kid waiting for Christmas Eve...
