bbc0 Report post Posted November 11, 2017 I have for sale a cowhide which I got professionally tanned about 45 years ago and never used. Useable dimensions are 65" by 55" making 24.8 sq ft. It's about the size of a queen sized bed as shown in the picture. There is some damage near the edge as shown. Asking $250 plus shipping or near offer. bbc0 Report post Posted November 12, 2017 I don't believe that age is an issue, the leather has been stored carefully and is in very nice supple condition. However if it doesn't sell I am ok with that

Thanks. When leather is measured is it pulled out tight and all included? I just measured a rectangle in inside of the irregularities, but not sure if that is right. When pulled tight, but not stretched it would be a bit bigger than a queen-sized bed.
billybopp Report post Posted November 16, 2017 There's an episode of Dirty Jobs where they go to a tannery, and show a mechanical measuring machine. They said they have a laser machine, but mostly used it to calibrate the mechanical one, if I remember right. Bill

So what would be a fair price to all concerned. The animal it came from was my own, but the tanning cost me $100 I recall.....
