Kenl Report post Posted February 14, 2018 Got tired of belt holes not being in a straight line.
Matt S Report post Posted February 14, 2018 That looks handy, and I bet it wasn't an expensive fence to build ;-) If you attach a ruler to the fence, with the zero in line with the centre of the punch, you can easily space your holes too. Let's say your hole spacing is 1.5". Punch the first hole, slide the belt so the hole is level with the 1.5" mark, then punch again... Rinse and repeat! alpha2 Report post Posted February 14, 2018 I don't have a problem with the round holes, but the ovals are a challenge. I've made a template from leather to help, but it's still slightly "ambiguous".
Kenl Report post Posted February 14, 2018 (edited) Thanks Matt sounds like a good ideal. Yes the oval holes are a little more difficult. If my eyes were a little younger I am sure it wouldn't have been an issue to begin with? LOL Edited February 14, 2018 by Kenl
alpha2 Report post Posted February 15, 2018 I wouldn't know, it's been SOME TIME since was "a little younger". But, on the other hand...retirement ROCKS!!! I've been puttering around in the leather shop since the first of the year. I'm okay with that!

Time to get a second arbor press so I don't have to switch back and forth. Thanks for the EXCELLENT idea!
Kenl Report post Posted March 7, 2018 Yes the flat spot keeps th oval punch in alignment . Good ideal on a second press.

Kenl Report post Posted March 8, 2018 I drilled the arbor hole deeper so it would hold the punch more secure and give me more room form the end of the punch to the work surface.
