st235 Report post Posted March 31, 2018 I have a friend that has a cobalt blade in his swivel knife and it cut so smoothly. It came with the knife years ago and he doesn't remember where he got it. The blade in my knife really sucks. I need a good blade, anyone know where to buy cobalt blades? Thank you
bermudahwin Report post Posted March 31, 2018 Years ago they offered ruby blades... early 1980s, way too pricey for me, I'd forgotten them til you posted this. Must have been Tandy as they're the only one I got carving tools from back then

Becker leather says this on ruby blades Worthy of noting, the above Midas swivel knife shown sports a rare, ruby blade. These were made by Tandy Leather in the 70's and discontinued. As fragile as they are, the artificially constructed ruby itself doesn't need sharpening like other blades; only stropping. Their modern replacement today is the ceramic blade which is an opaque white and stays sharp with only stropping as well. H
