conditioning 5/6 oz veg tan

Recommended Posts

Usually I condition, sometimes even oil, my 5/6 oz veg tan prior to assembling my briefcases.

Is there any advantage to doing this? Disadvantage? My reasoning is that it makes the leather easier to work with.

Thanks,

Ed

when i do a seat.i usual oil dye etc etc..after assembly is done.oil for the fact of putting the natural oils back into the leather between the casing and dyeing dries things out.i have oil before ,makes it a little softer, dont really know if it makes it easier or not.thats just been my experience with it..

i have been using lexol on my seats. once after drying from tooling then after installing the cover and one more time after dying. just light coats.

it does help to soften it up and make it easier to work with for sure!
