can I fill a cut along a stitch line with glue

Howdy, I would like to know if I can fill a cut along a stitch line with glue and leather shavings like I can with wood 7 if so what type of glue? Lee Jr.

I have not done it, but there was a comversation I think on this board about a saddle maker who would cut hit sew lines, sew it and then glew and hammer the cut closed. You cant see the thread sewn into the leather and has a greater durability against the threads getting rubbed thin and breaking.

As for the type of glue... I would try it with leather weld on a scrap piece and then if it didnt work, use the barge contact cement on a scrap... wet it some after applying the gluw and hammer it closed...

You try it let us know your results.

NO IT WONT WORK....... But what will work, if the cut is not very long

is SUPER GLUE... :beer:

Someone recently talked about under cutting stitch line (rater than groving) so they could lay leather back down over the stitches and glued.

Thanks for the help, but I am not looking to hide a stitch line but repair a cut in a saddle skirt that was cut by a stitching machine. I want to make it look better that what it looks like now. Lee Jr

Lee Jr. the Super Glue willl glue the cut together But you will have the

SCAR.... :cowboy:

Is the skirt a color that some Antiquing could be applied? just a thought.

The cut is from a sewning machine and the cut is to wide for the super glue I believe, Thanks, Lee JR.

I can not do the picture thing, but I tried rubber cement, it filled the cut but I am not sure how long it will last.
