Edging for newbies

All right... Edging is going to give me (more) grey hair. 

It feels smooth - but the look ... 

I need edge paint? 

 

By the way - next time: nooooot so tight cut. Can't get the card inside the first pocket

What type of leather did you use? I am guessing its vegtan, so you might be able to stretch the leather a bit to ease the pocket.

Wet the leather then try to insert a credit card or 2. Maybe try a piece of hard plastic that can be bent and mangled a bit. (Better than doing that to your CC).

If you have a cake of saddlesoap, then follow these steps.

1. Wet your sponge and wring it out so it holds just enough moisture that it doesn't run out under presssure.

2. Beginning at one corner, press the sponge against the leather and stroke it in ONE DIRECTION ONLY  for several stroked (8 - 10 should do it)

3. Take your cake of saddlesoap and rub it briskly IN BOTH DIRECTIONS along the edge until you have applied a slick coating along the entire edge.

4.  Repeat for the additional raw edges.

What kind of leather is that, what tools and chemicals did you use, and what's wrong with your edges in your view?

In the first pic they look a bit crocked, the line where the 2 leathers meet for stitching?

I can't magnify the picture enough to see  better.

I used some violence and now the card fit :D

2,5 mm veg tan pre coloured. Used gum trag and the coloure is off and uneven, it is not the same colour over the egde, if you get what I mean.

I dont know, maybe? Feels smooth but the colour is uneven and it does not look good.
