Sharpening stamps??

Recommended Posts

In a couple different threads, the writer  was talking about using a background tool or maybe a beveler tool. They said that maybe it wasn't sharp enough or maybe they should have sharpened it befor use.

Are these tools supposed to be "sharpened" occasionally?

Are you sure they didn't say crisp enough?  A crisp impression is dependent on the tool maker.  Some stamps suck, while others are much sharper.  I wouldn't recommend sharpening them.

Thanks Mike. They did say sharpen. Maybe they were thinking that the impression wasnt crisp enough? Could be. I know ive thought one thing and had word soup come out of my mouth....

I know a LOT of people who do leather and none of them sharpen their stamps, ever.  Link me on the video and I'll try and decipher for you.

I think it was a post here on this site, but I don't remember who's post it was.
