Juki machine prefixes

Recommended Posts

Just wondered if anyone had the meanings of the prefixes on the model numbers as to what they mean, or is the decription of what they are meant to sew etc just in the numerals as a type

Juki uses those prefixes to assign the intended end use, or sometimes the bobbin size of the machine. The suffix describes certain capabilities of a sub-class.

A DNU machine is a typical medium to heavy duty, triple feed upholstery walking foot machine, while an LU is a heavier duty walking foot machine. Both use a double capacity U style bobbin. The DU series are top and bottom feed walking foot machines. The DDL are bottom feeders only and are better suited to cloth or non-sticky materials..

Hi Wiz,

Can you offer any information on a Singer branded sewing machine which a Juki manufacturing plate on the back. The model number on the front is a DDL-127. It has an oil pan under the machine and a foot pedal. I'm looking for the appropriate manual.  The closest I've come is the manual for the Juki 5530.
