Burning Chrome Dyed Leather

So, I know the book says DON'T burn on chrome treated leather, just veg tan.  But I have some beautiful colored leather that I want to design on.  So what kind of mask should I wear to protect myself?  Thanks.

 You also need good ventilation to get the toxins out of the room.  Otherwise you take off your mask and still breathe the fumes.  Get a 3M vapor rated mask and you'll be fine, but ventilate the room too.
