SeraphicArcher Report post Posted November 6, 2018 Hello all, I was wondering if anyone had experimented with other items for adhering leather to while tooling. I have a terrible time trying to remove the cardboard from the back of un-faced leather after tooling. I was thinking some of that white plastic sometimes used as cutting boards, or maybe a thin string grained plywood might work. Any ideas or suggestion appreciated. Ps. Cardboard attracts roaches, which are prolific where I live.
TomWisc Report post Posted November 6, 2018 I have been using packaging tape, the clear tape you use when sealing up a box for shipping. I think it comes in 2' wide rolls. I just run as many strips as needed to cover the back of the piece I am tooling. Cover the back side while tooling and comes off pretty easy when you are done. I'll give this a try, thank you.
garypl Report post Posted November 7, 2018 I sometimes use rubber cement to glue leather to a vinyl kitchen placemat. Pulls right off when you finish tooling. You can buy them for about $1 Gary
