Members Bigdogs Posted November 21, 2018 Members Report Posted November 21, 2018 I’m a Deputy Sheriff. I got into leather work about a year ago. I’m a K9 handler for my department. My K9 partner is like my best friend! I’m with him more than anybody else. He sleeps beside my bed at night! Or on it. My wife has accepted that he is my side kick so to speak. Anyway I can’t stand vinyl collars. They suck! They start stinking and get nasty quick like. I just don’t like em! I could not find a nice leather collar for my side kick so I decided to spend a bunch of money on making one. Now all the other handlers’ K9’s have collars that I made in my department. One of my coworkers trained and competes in sport dog competitions. Several of her teammates want me to make collars for them. However a few of them want super heavy duty 2 inch double ply collars. Cool, I can make that however I can’t find any decent 2 inch wide buckles. I was thinking about making them with 2 inch straps and tapering down to 1.5 inches to fit common buckles. However a few people are like naw I want a 2 inch buckle. Does anybody have any sources for 2 inch buckles. I know they exist! Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks ahead of time!! Quote
Rockoboy Posted November 26, 2018 Report Posted November 26, 2018 (edited) I believe most of your American compatriots would recommend Ohio Travel bag, the Buckle Guy, Tandy, Springfield Leather, maybe a Google search ... have you tried any of these places? When I am searching for something, if the company I contact does not have the item, I ask if they have any idea who might be able to assist. Its surprising how many times a half-lead turns out to be a positive result. I just noticed this is a double post, so my suggestions have already been made.
