mikesherman Report post Posted July 28, 2019 Just wondering what folks think about mounting a small, lightweight motorcycle bag using bolts through grommets...I have an idea for a custom bag for my bike, and due to the odd planes of the mounting surface, I was thinking this might work. Just a small bag for paperwork, phone, wallet...any thoughts on how well grommets might work for mounting directly to existing frame points? Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
fredk Report post Posted July 28, 2019 I used to attach things to my motorcycle in the way you want. I'd suggest that you do not fully tighten the bolts onto the grommets. I found the vibration could and did rip the material from around the grommet. I would now slip a bit of rubber between the bolt and the inside of the grommet and use a rubber washer on each side and tighten up almost tight but just a wee touch not Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
