Members tammaraki Posted October 13, 2019 Members Report Posted October 13, 2019 First, does a Consew P1206RB have the same capabilities as the Consew 206RB? I am asking because I can get a new P1206RB locally for $1195 and it would be nice to deal with someone in our area (Everett WA). Secondly, we will be working with a variety of leather plus some heavy canvas. Leather up to at least 16 oz tooling leather, probably some 8 oz veg tanned and some garment leather. Would we be better off having two machines? One for lighter materials and one for heavier work? I guess I am wondering if medium duty machines, like a Consew 206RB, work well on smaller lighter projects. Thank you in advance. Quote
Members Constabulary Posted October 14, 2019 Members Report Posted October 14, 2019 (edited) well, I´d check the Mfg. web site and compare the specs . Guessing you are talking about new machines / latest models. http://www.consew.com/view/consew-model-206rb-5 http://www.consew.com/View/P1206RB Edited October 14, 2019 by Constabulary Quote ~ Keep "OLD CAST IRON" alive - it´s worth it ~ Machines in use: - Singer 111G156 - Singer 307G2 - Singer 29K71 - Singer 212G141 - Singer 45D91 - Singer 132K6 - Singer 108W20 - Singer 51WSV2 - Singer 143W2
Moderator Wizcrafts Posted October 14, 2019 Moderator Report Posted October 14, 2019 I believe that the Consew 206RB and P1206RB have the same capacities. The differences are that the P1206 doesn't have a safety clutch and has an oil pump on the bottom and the foot lift is 5/8 inch. It's maximum stitch length is 3.6/inch The 206RB-5 has a safety clutch, is manually oiled and has 9/16 inch foot lift. It's maximum stitch is 2.5/inch. They use the same bobbins and needles. Both can sew up to 3/8 inch. Both are rated at #138 thread, but may handle #207 if properly adjusted by the dealer.
