Guest Posted August 29, 2007 Report Posted August 29, 2007 Sometimes I hate allowing a customer to dictate the seat art.... But you just do the best you can with what the guy wants. Here's a perfect example. Dave Quote
Ambassador freak Posted August 29, 2007 Ambassador Report Posted August 29, 2007 I don't care what you say. I love that color and the braiding, the tooling tight and clean. I could of carved a monkeys butt and it would of looked great with all that. Nice job David !!! Quote
Members CitizenKate Posted August 29, 2007 Members Report Posted August 29, 2007 Looks good to me, man. I've had several customers take me down an artist path I did not want to follow, and ended up with something unexpectedly phenomenal. Kate Quote
Members TimberWolf Posted August 29, 2007 Members Report Posted August 29, 2007 SUPER nice, David!! I wish I had the patience to braid that way! Quote
Members shirleyz Posted August 29, 2007 Members Report Posted August 29, 2007 Sweet Taters? Aren't they like yams? Regardless of your taste in vegetables, great seat! Like always. Shirley Quote

Members JustWakinUp Posted August 29, 2007 Members Report Posted August 29, 2007 Good looking stuff David I absolutely love the braiding. Those seat pans, where are you getting them? Quote
Guest Posted August 29, 2007 Report Posted August 29, 2007 Good looking stuff David I absolutely love the braiding. Those seat pans, where are you getting them? Just... The seat pans are no secret....They are commercially available from West Eagle....made in the Phillipines I believe. At least they come packed in the Manilla Times newspaper....lol (good clue eh?). They are about the heavest gauge steel of all the available pans....they are also the pans for which Fabricator Kevin makes those nifty billet brackets with bronze bushings. The pans retail for about $60 I think. Dave Theobald Sweet Taters? Aren't they like yams?Regardless of your taste in vegetables, great seat! Like always. Shirley Yup, Sweet Taters are indeed yams. I hope he's building this bike for his girlfriend....He would get some serious teasing for a seat like that around here..... Quote

JohnD Posted August 29, 2007 Report Posted August 29, 2007 Dave, I don't see what's so bad about the art? Very well executed at any rate. Outstanding work as usual. I made a Guitar strap for a friend and he sent a drawing he wanted carved on it, a skull with a mohawk. Now, I'm not the best at drawing either, but this was awful. I asked if I could redraw it, you know so it would fit the strap better, but he said he wanted to use his drawing and to do the best I could with it. I kept putting off making the strap for weeks. My wife finally confronted me about it and said I was only putting it off cause I didnt't want people thinking that I had drawn the skull and that I should stop being a wuss and make the strap, so I did and it really came out great. The skull came out exactly as he had drawn it and he was very happy and my story has no point...sorry John Quote
ETW Grumpy Posted August 30, 2007 Report Posted August 30, 2007 Really nice work. I hope I can braid that good when I grow up. Quote

Guest Posted August 30, 2007 Report Posted August 30, 2007 Dave, I don't see what's so bad about the art? John John, I didn't mind the art....it was the Sweet Tater thing that I didn't care for....not exactly what I would call a biker sort of nickname. I didn't mind the star and horseshoe....It is tattoo flash and not too bad.... I was able to talk him out of twin six guns (with ornate engraving) pointing at the star....phew! That would have been way too much on a seat. Still, not my favorite seat .... but I want to thank everyone for the nice words. Dave Theobald Quote
