What’s this thing called?

I know the device is a tape measure holder. But the metal piece itself surely has a name that I don’t know. I’ve been asked to make a few is these but I don’t know what the metal bit is called or where to find them.

There has been quite the discussion about these.  The design that many like is where the top of the metal piece flares outward, which makes putting the tape into the slot much easier.
