Members 24602 Posted February 26, 2020 Members Report Posted February 26, 2020 I’m seeking thoughts on a Durkopp 541. I need a machine that will sew a couple layers of skived 8-9 oz chrome tan plus a couple layers of 2-2.5 oz. Is this a dinosaur that will be a problem when it comes to parts? The manual is vague on thread sizes but it seems that it is limited to pretty small. I need 135 as a minimum would sure like to be able to use 207. The price is nice but i really don’t want to get strapped to another tedious situation like the Pfaff 145 I’m working on. Just need something to get going on to fund a Cobra 26. Was saving and was almost there and then it seems, unless I am mistaken, the price on the Cobras jumped. Appreciate any insight y’all can offer. Quote
mikesc Posted February 26, 2020 Report Posted February 26, 2020 Price probably jumped due to increase in tariffs by USA against Chinese manufactured goods..which of course only "hurts" the Chinese manufacturers..or so it is said. ;) I think that the Durkopp 541 would max out at 138 on top and not even sure if it would get up that far..might max at 92 top and bottom .. I know someone who has one..but he is on holiday for at least the next 15 days ..so I can't confirm.. Quote
