Sjm1027 Report post Posted September 9, 2007 I just purchased this groover and am trying to cut a grove into 8 oz leather. This is a new tool and it just seems to make a groove but it's rough... Is this done on dry leather? I must be missing something. Steve
Go2Tex Report post Posted September 10, 2007 That's the one I use a lot and it seems to work just fine right out of the box. You might have gotten a bad one. Those cutters are replaceable, of course and cheap. Dry leather or cased, it should work.

abn Report post Posted September 11, 2007 I agree with Tex -- it's probably the blade. However, when you get the new blade, give it a try both on dry and slightly damp leather. My grooves always come out nicer when the leather has been dampened ever so slightly. Good luck! -Alex
