I was playing around a little with visual effects when I was making this horsehide holster for a Ruger LC9 with crimson trace trigger guard.

Is that the Craftaid press plate? I've been chasing woodgrain for a while and it's tough to nail down. I really like the green leaf, it pulls the woodgrain theme around nicely.

That is very interesting. Especially on a holster. I like the.leaf stiffener too. I've never used horse wither, is it hard to work with?

@battlemunky just something I remember seeing (I haven't taken or actually seen the lesson personally) but jim linnells elktracks studio has a lesson teaching how to do wood grain. Search elktracks studio and it'll bring up his site. I imagine its done mostly with a swivel knofe and modeling spoon but I can't really say. Just something I thought you may be interested in

Good to know @Stetson912, I'll check it out.

Here's the link. It's $30, maybe rainy day or if it's ever discounted.

It is a different creature to work with. It doesn't soften up much at all when you water case it, & it's almost waterproof on its own. When I go to wet mold it, I have to just drop it in a bucket of water & let it sit there overnight.
