imawalkingfoot Report post Posted July 12, 2020 Hello Everyone! Long time lurker here. I have received many suggestions from this forum, especially with machines I recently acquire a pfaff 335 that looks like it specialize in actual factory work. As you can tell from the second picture. It was two arm levers in the back. Top releases thread tension and bottom is for lifting the presser feet. 1. My question is, how can i convert it into one arm? Honestly, i do not need the arms. I prefer using the hand lifter. The problem is, the hand lifter does not release the tension. see picture 3. 2. What parts do i need to use the hand lifter so I can release the thread tension? NOTE - I just purchase the tension pin. I also look into another from from jimi and it help a lot although still unsure. Any help or suggestions is welcome.
jimi Report post Posted July 12, 2020 Hi There, here are some pictures i hope that will clarify. In the post there is a picture of a PDF with the parts, they are the same as the ones on the green 335, on the Black/white one they are different. It looks like the part that is connected to your lifting bar may need the parts the same as the ones on the green 335?? On the Black/White one the lifting bracket on the foot bar is higher? imawalkingfoot Report post Posted July 12, 2020 Hello Jimi, Thank for the PDF and pictures! Now i see how the hand lifter can release the tension because the upper lifter is much higher. Also, the bar lifter is certainly higher on the white. Have you tried putting the lifting parts from green to the white one? Can it release the tension. I think you just need the parts from the green and put it on the white to make it work. I do not think the foot bar on the white is needed although, it does make things easier. See pictures below. I circled in blue. Also see 2nd pictures (not mine) The only thing I would keep in the white is the hand lifter. The rest of them can be taken from the green. I do not need the knee lifter but maybe in the future I will. Any suggestions is welcome. Thank You

No i have not changed them over but i think they would probably fit, your machine is newer than my Black/white one as it has the square window for oiling, also it is possible they changed the lifting mechanism on your machine as there are two colours of white on the arms and there is a wear spot where the lifting device was before, (see red circle in the picture) The parts in your picture above are the parts you would probably need to convert it back and also the lifting arm. I see, Do you mind taking a picture of you green pfaff 335, where the hand lifter and the bar lifting is releasing the tension. I just want to make sure once and for all and it can work. Thank You! imawalkingfoot Report post Posted July 12, 2020 I see. The yellow part is the part that presses on tension pin and releases the tension. Well i guess it is doable and now just needs to order parts. Thank you!
jimi Report post Posted July 12, 2020 Yes the yellow part pushes the pin, , you might be able to get parts to fit from other 335 type machines?? Or ask here on the forum, someone might have a spare to sell.Good luck finding parts.
