zuludog Report post Posted November 12, 2020 I'm looking for an edge beveler that makes a rounded cut, and I'm wondering whether to get a Tandy Craftool Keen Edge Beveler or see what I can find on Etsy - any suggestions or recommendations please? Remember that I will be ordering from the UK. I can buy Tandy and Osborne tools from UK suppliers, but I suspect that importing from the USA would be too expensive
jcuk Report post Posted November 12, 2020 These will give you a more of a round edge, don't know what weight of leather you will need it for most of the straps i use these for are 3mm + Bridle or harness leather. https://www.abbeyengland.com/economy-hollow-edge-shave-3005.html Hope this helps JCUK
TonySFLDLTHR Report post Posted November 12, 2020 Hey Zulu, We have this Keen Edge Beveler. https://www.springfieldleather.com/Edge-Beveler-Keen-Old-126-2 These new bevelers to us have a slight roundness to them as well. But we haven't gotten our stock of them yet.

zuludog Report post Posted November 12, 2020 (edited) I have a Craftool beveler with the flat bottom, and that's OK mostly for knife sheaths, but for edging belts in about 3mm leather I want to use a beveler with a grooved bottom, on both surfaces, to give a more rounded edge I think I'll try a Keen Edge Beveler; I can get it from The Identity Store; the price is reasonable and if it does the job why look any further? Anyway you can can the edge shave here too but more expensive though. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SADDLERS-LEATHER-WORKERS-PROFESSIONAL-HOLLOW-EDGE-SHAVE-MADE-IN-ENGLAND/232937597891?hash=item363c29abc3:g:U2UAAOSwnRZbpopW JCUK

It's £24 inc P&P, so the total cost compared to a cheaper price but paying for P&P probably works out similar Yes, Abbey are a good company, I have bought some stitching chisels from them, they will accept a one off order by phone - or at least they used to, they've stopped doing that thanks to The Lockdown
