toxo Posted December 22, 2020 Report Posted December 22, 2020 (edited) Can someone explain why my stitch length alters with different thicknesses? I've noticed it lately going from two layers, up an inch long skived welt to three layers. Edited December 22, 2020 by toxo Quote
Members Constabulary Posted December 22, 2020 Members Report Posted December 22, 2020 Pendulum effect. Same as on patcher machines and most machines with needle feed (except BUSMC #6 for instance). Very basic explanation: The needle bar is "hanging" on a pivot point and the needle penetrates the material in an angle and the thicker the material gets the closer the material comes to the pivot point and the shorter the stitch length becomes. The BUSMC #6 (and similar) are an exceptions because the needle bar is always vertical and needle goes straight into the material and not in an angle.
