Indy Report post Posted December 2, 2006 I'm doing bags and knife sheaths every now and then with a scout's Fleur-de-Lis. I really like the symbol and nowi have to mke a ladies handbag with a huge Fleur-de-Lis which covers the whole front of the bag. I want to make the Fleur-de-Lis perfect this time, does someone of you have a good description how to carve it in a well working way?

Took me awhile to remember where this pattern was. It is from an old Al Stohlman doodle page. It had several patterns and shows how to carve them the traditional way and also inverted. Hope this helps you. Clay

Johanna Report post Posted March 10, 2007 I really like the way Jack Justis uses the design in his pool cue cases. It looks very elegant. This page shows some variations of the traditional design, and the site explains the history and symbolism of the fleur-de-lis and other designs found on a family Coat of Arms. http://www.fleurdelis.com/fleurs.htm Johanna
JohnD Report post Posted May 10, 2007 (edited) Not to highjack your thread Indy, But, I'm curious if anyone has used a Fleur-de-Lis in a Sheridan style floral pattern and how you would go about doing that? What type of leaves and stems and such? how would you do the different views of the flower, etc. Edited May 10, 2007 by JohnD
Indy Report post Posted May 22, 2007 This is how I used the it, I think it came out nice for the bag though there is a way to do it much nicer for sure
Johanna Report post Posted May 22, 2007 That purse is a classic, Indy. It could be carried to the rodeo or the opera. Nice job, and thanks for sharing. Johanna
