Regis Report post Posted February 6, 2008 I'd like to make a few knife sheaths that are in popular but generic sizes. I'll tool them and do an inlay or 2 but, would like to make them for popular size blade(s) and handle/grip. If you have a blade length & width that seems popular, would you post it (and the grip/handle length)? I' going to sit a gun show with a friend and want to have a few sample sheaths. I've already made a custom one for my OldTimer. Thanks, Regis
rharris Report post Posted February 6, 2008 Regis Here is a picture of a sheath I make. It is for a pocket knife with a 3" blade and the handle is 4". It is made for a cross draw. More comfortable horseback. You might look a Big Bend Saddles for some other styles. I don't have any made up to give you the dimentions, but could scan my pattern and send to you if you are interested. RussH

rharris Report post Posted February 7, 2008 Regis & Russ I will try to attach my patterns. I scanned them and they printed out the right size. I put some measurements on the patterns in case they don't print out the right size. The bigger pattern is the same one I used for my multi tool, but multi tool and pocket knives are all different. I had to put another row of stitching in my multitoo sheath to tighten it up. If you have any questions I will try to answer them. Good luck RussH
John D Dennehy Report post Posted February 8, 2008 Here's a couple of examples of sheaths I have done. Maybe I didn't read correctly but are you looking for sizes of fixed blade or folding knives? For fixed blades you might look up Randall Made Knives on the web. Their online catolog is fantastic and they give detailed discriptions of each knife. Since Randall knives have been around since the late 30's most of the sizes and shapes have been copied since. Maybe this helps a bit, I hope.
