Brother LT2-B836-5 Double Needle Machine

Recommended Posts

Hello all.  I recently acquired a Brother LT2-B836-5 Double Needle Industrial Sewing Machine.  I cannot find a manual or any solid information on this model and wondered if anyone out there may have some knowledge about this machine and it's value in terms of being able to sew leather.  As I am not very knowledgeable about sewing machines in general, your help would be appreciated.  I have read that similar models can have gauges swapped out to assist in sewing increasingly thicker materials.  Is this the case with this machine?  Can it be used to sew veg tan leather around 6-8 ounce?  Thanks again!

manual can be found here.

Parts list:

looks like a machine with switchable needle bars. I do not know if it is possible to adjust the needle bar space. Other than that I´m sure the machine is using the the standard gauge sets as used for Singer 212 needle feed machines as well as for their Seiko, JUKI, Consew... equivalents.

EDIT:

looks like there are special gauge sets for this machine available. Apperas needle holder are different:

Thank you for your reply.. I was able to find a little about this machine, but not much of it really made sense as I am unfamiliar with a double needle machine.  Is the difference in gauges the length of the needle bar?  Or the spacing between two needle bars?

I really appreciate the help.

For spacing between the needles. The bars seem to be fixed in space but the different needle holders (one for each NB) are available for different needle spaces. Split needle bar machines are a bit different compared with plain double needle machines.
