FritzBrand Report post Posted February 20, 2022 I am looking at an old Pfaff 145 and I am trying to figure out its specifications. Things like the type of needle and bobbins it uses, presser foot lift height etc. The model number is "145H-6D LM" I have read the posts on the forum, and have learned the following: D = Heavy Materials L = Leather M = Has safety clutch The bit that I am struggling with, is that all the posts and even the manuals, refer to the machines as either an H1, H2, H3, or H4 machine. I don't have a number next to my H, or is the 6 meant to be the H number? I haven't seen information around an H6 either, so I am a bit confused. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Constabulary Report post Posted February 20, 2022 (edited) Looks like an quite early black machine with paint quite worn off. I´m not sure but maybe at that time there was no H1-H4 rating. Bobbin are usually all the same in the 14x class (approx 22mmx11mm). Needles depend on how the machine is set up you can set it up for different needle system by raising and lowering the needle bar. Not a big deal really. Keep in mind - what you see on the tag is how the machine left the factory decades ago and it is well possible the machine has been altered / set up for different purposes several times (old machine) during its lifespan. Best way to figure its specs is testing it. Old / worn machines are always a gamble. Edited February 20, 2022 by Constabulary
FritzBrand Report post Posted February 20, 2022 I had to make a call on the machine today, so I ender up buying it for $410, delivered to my door. The guy I bought it from started sanding it down a bit, in preparation for a respray. I am going to continue with that job, this beauty deserves a new coat of paint. I am going to replace the clutch motor that is on it at the moment, with a 550 watt servo motor, as well as a 3:1 speed reduction pulley. Will post more pictures as I make progress. shoepatcher Report post Posted February 20, 2022 ok D class for Heavy, L for leather, M for safety clutch, 6 for max. stitch length of 6mm. No P for 4 motion drop feed, No S for sewing cloth. How high does foot lift? H2 were 7mm. H3 were 11mm, H4 were high lift 14mm. Old one because it is black in color.
