Clay Report post Posted April 8, 2007 Hi all, Clay Banyai has already posted Jims class in Colorado Springs, but I wanted to update it. It will be a figure carving class with the pattern being similar to the current Tandy catalog cover. It will start at 6pm on Friday May 11 and the it will be 9am to 6 pm Saturday May 12 and 9am till noon on Sunday May 13. The cost for this class is $25 dollars and Jim will provide the piece of tooling leather. Jim also said that there is no limit to the number of people he will allow to take the class. I am hoping that we can fill the store to capacity for this class. If you can make it to the class bring your figure carving tools, swivel knife and a mallet or maul. Please oh please oh please?Johanna The class was great, there were about fifteen people there and Jim gave some very usefull techniques on doing figure carving. The pattern was a moose that looked a lot like an elk with a mountain and trees in the backgroud. We watched him paint his picture on Sunday and he does a very good job of adding color but still letting the leather show through. All in all I learned alot and am going to be trying a lot more of this figure carving.... Oh and I was to sick to remember to bring my camera so I will ask some ofthe others who were there with their cameras to get me some pics. Clay M. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Romey said it looked like it was bugling. ClayB says I can't tell an elk from a deer from a moose, and he's probably right. I live in Ohio, though, and I can tell the hawks apart! Clay M, what's your next project going to be? I was hoping you'd be one of the teachers at the IFoLG this fall. I'm curious to know what Dale is planning, too.
