JAZZMAN Report post Posted April 27, 2015 Looking good, stitching wallets is always hard as you need to get both sides looking the same which is not easy at the best of times, but on a wallet it is even harder.Great work, looking forward to seeing the inside pics.Have you considered trying turned edges, here is a picture of one i did with turned edges, not trying to hijack the thread just putting ideas to you. So I took a look at your wallet and it looks nice, the turned edge gives it a really clean look. If I was to redo this one, I would probably cut the pockets larger and turn the edges. WolfFlower Report post Posted May 3, 2015 The Good Side The Not so Good side So messed up on the inner right stitchline, someone distracted me when I was making holes. Not happy with the corners but have just bought a corner cutter that will hopefully sort it. So the Buffalo burnished edge gives it a soft feel, but it just looks so rough on the aviation leather pockets. I can't see me getting getting the special tools/edge paints to do this properly, so maybe for now the turned edges are my only option for a clean look. JAZZMAN Report post Posted May 3, 2015 Hey wolflower, as i have learned with turned edges you really do have to keep your stitching chisel straight , otherwise the exit side really can go of course, i recently posted how i have got over this with an engineers square stood behind my work to bone it in. I'm a believer in "right tool for the right job" but I also love quality. So i'm finding that building a tool collection that is both varied and well engineered is bloody expensive but worth it. Also I showed my wallet to my auntie and asked for some blunt advice (she's an expert:), so I was expecting her to have a go at the stitching or to point out something with the pockets. Instead she said that if it is handstitched then it needs to be more blatent, after showing her a couple of pics, I realised that she actually meant lacing.
